Red Zone

"Red zone" refers to one of the two competing values camps in the culture wars, the one associated with the Republican party and conservative politics.

Americans falling into this camp are generally Christians who uphold traditional family values - even when otherwise religiously affiliated, they accept a basic Christian identity for the nation in the form of references to God in public ceremonies and adoption of Christian holidays. A belief in personal moral responsibility leads them to support vice laws, the right to gun ownership, and the death penalty.

Red zoners are nationalists who favor low taxes and capitalism. They also believe that abortion is the taking of an innocent human life and should not be considered a private matter.
