The trouble with Boomers. Steven LaTulippe is worried about the rising power of the Boomer generation. Now dominating the federal government, they threaten us all with their fiscal irresponsibility and hysterical utopianism. His piece is reminiscent of an earlier one by Radley Balko.

These concerns are quite valid, of course, if you know anything about the collective Boomer persona. As children, Boomers were raised indulgently and encouraged to heed their inner voices, and are now renowned in adulthood for their smug self-righteousness and annoying judgementalism. Here's what we can expect from our Boomer leaders in the years to come:

  • Crusades to make the world a better place. Hey, we all want the world to be a better place, right?

  • Expensive government programs initiated with no regard for fiscal soundness. How else can we make the world a better place?

  • Utter disregard for the complaints of dissenters. What do they know about improving the world?
